Stroke affects an estimated 400,000 Australians aged 15 and over at some time, more than 100 events every day, and as you can see its not just about being old it can happen in children as young as one month old, in fact up to 600 children each year in Australia suffer a stroke. Eastern Health is a major leader in stroke treatment and currently does not have its own Biplane Angiogram suite leaving over 800,000 people in Melbourne’s eastern region without local access to this potentially lifesaving stroke equipment. The aim is to have this vital piece of equipment installed by 2025 and your help is needed to support this project.  As a result of the wonderful presentation, we recently had from Dr Phillip Choi (Eastern Health Stroke Neurologist) and the overwhelming support of our club members to support the Biplane Angiogram Suite project, Rotary Box Hill Burwood has agreed to focus on this as a major fundraising campaign over the next 2 years and hope to raise $100,000.

As a result, we have commenced raising funds in various way commencing with the “Stroke of Genius” Trivia night which was held on 25th May at St Francis Xavier Primary School in Whitehorse Road. On this fun evening we raised close to $3000 with the assistance of our fantastic sponsors.

Funds will also we raised via our Annual Whitehorse Art Show held at Box Hill Town Hall in October and via our Opportunity Shop in Canterbury Road Blackburn.
