DESCRIPTION:Join us to hear from member John Friend- Pereira. Unfortunately\, our programmed speaker Susan Bergman OAM has had to reschedule due to illness\, but we assure you that you won’t be disappointed. \nJohn Friend-Pereira was based in the West Bank city of Hebron divided to accommodate 500 Israeli settlers among 180\,000 Palestinians. Movement restrictions have led to the closure of 850 Palestinian businesses there and children’s journey to school entails long delays at checkpoints. John took time to listen to Israelis in Sderot\, an Israeli town frequently hit by rockets fired by Palestinian militant groups. \nMeeting in the Upton Room\, Box Hill RSL \n6pm for 6:15pm start\, 15th August 2023 \nDinner is available in the RSL Bistro. \nPlease note non-Rotary club members will need to book separately if they wish to have dinner following the meeting as the venue only sets aside a limited number of seats for members.
